New flexible 3 Core + 1 Elective Unit model for existing Specialised Graduate Certificates

Starting from the May 2025 intake, the existing specialised Graduate Certificates will now follow a 3 Core + 1 Elective Unit model. This new structure provides students with greater flexibility to tailor their learning to their specific interests and career goals.

The 3+1 model means that every student within each qualification will complete the same three Core Units, representing the essential learning of that course, and then choose one Elective Unit to complete from a selection of two to six options.

As an example, students of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management will complete the Core Units of Operational Improvement, Agile Management, and Project Management and choose between Business Decision-Making, Business Strategies, and Marketing Management for their Elective Unit.

This change empowers students to personally customise their educational journey, ensuring they acquire the most relevant and impactful knowledge for their professional development.

For students currently enrolled into these qualifications, they can choose to either complete the current version of their Graduate Certificate or be transitioned into the new model. Our student progression team has reached out to these students to help them with this transition.
