Why ABS Quality Indicators For Learning and Teaching (QILT)

Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT)

The Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) are a series of surveys for higher education funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and run by the Social Research Centre. They survey individuals across the student life cycle from the commencement of their study to employment after graduation.

QILT provides robust and nationally consistent data about Australian higher education, which helps us drive quality improvement and enables individuals to compare higher education providers accurately and fairly.

AIM Business School’s survey results are publicly available on the ComparED website.

QILT Surveys

QILT runs four regular surveys:

100% Online

Student Experience Survey

The Student Experience Survey (SES) explores aspects of the student experience that are measurable, linked with learning and development outcomes, and potentially able to be influenced by higher education institutions. Information collected in the SES helps higher education institutions and the government improve teaching and learning outcomes for students.

100% Online

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) is completed by graduates of Australian higher education institutions approximately four to six months after finishing their studies. The GOS measures short-term employment outcomes including skills utilisation, further study activities, and graduate satisfaction.

100% Online

Graduate Outcomes Survey – Longitudinal

The Graduate Outcomes Survey – Longitudinal (GOS-L) is completed by graduates of Australian higher education institutions approximately three years after completing their studies. The GOS-L supplements the GOS by measuring graduates’ medium-term employment outcomes and further study activities.

Highly Consumable

Employer Satisfaction Survey

The Employer Satisfaction Survey (ESS) measures how well graduates from Australian higher education institutions meet employer needs. Data from the ESS are used to better understand the specific skills and attributes needed by today’s employers, how well higher education is preparing graduates for the workforce and the varied employment pathways graduates are taking after completing their study.
