Unit Description

Addressing operations in organisations across the globe, this unit looks at how they are assimilating quality assurance with holistic systems management practices. It will encourage you to consider approaches to operational improvement while taking a systems view and emphasises how the strategic alignment of operations is essential for the long-term success of organisations in gaining competitive advantage.

There are no prerequisites for this unit.

Learning Outcomes

  • Critically examine holistic operations management theory and its practical application for sustainable organisational improvement.
  • Assess organisations in terms of operations systems, practices and processes to improve the quality of management.
  • Evaluate digital operations strategy and systems to improve an organisation's performance.
  • Compare and contrast the design, implementation and delivery of strategy and the process of monitoring, control and risk management.
  • Develop a high order of skill in analysis, critical thinking and professional application.

Assessment Tasks

The successful completion of Managing Operational Improvement relies on the submission of three assessments:

  • Assessment Task 1: Forces of Change and Digitalisation for Operational Improvement (35%)
  • Assessment Task 2: Operational Improvement Philosophies, Approaches and Practices (50%)
  • Assessment Task 3: Engagement and Participation (15%)
