AIM News 3 New Units

AIM Business School is excited to announce the launch of three new areas of study:

  • Business Analytics for Innovation and Transformation
  • Business Analytics for Strategic Decision-Making
  • Supply Chain Design and Innovation

These units are available now as elective units within the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. They were developed to continue our commitment to building the most relevant business school for working professionals in Australia. With a greater variety of units, we ensure that diverse learning goals can be met and unique career paths can more directly supported.

Business Analytics for Innovation and Transformation

Innovation and transformation are critical for sustained organisational success, and business analytics is the key enabler for these abilities in dynamic and competitive environments. This unit equips you with a high-level, non-technical understanding of how analytics can provide you with the insights necessary to reimagine processes, evolve business models, and drive strategic change. Together, this positions your organisation for long-term growth.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the unit, students will be empowered to:

  • Apply analytical frameworks and analytics to design innovative business strategies that support growth and adaptability.
  • Critically assess the strategic impact of emerging technologies on business performance and transformation.
  • Identify ethical, governance, and risk considerations associated with analytics-enabled innovation and transformation initiatives.
  • Critically evaluate the role of business analytics in driving innovation and enabling organisational transformation.
  • Communicate innovation strategies effectively using data-driven insights.

Business Analytics for Strategic Decision-Making

Business analytics is an essential tool to improve decision-making, drive efficiency, and gain an edge in competitive markets. This unit will give you a comprehensive understanding of analytics methodologies and performance metrics so that you can make effective, data-driven decisions. In a business environment increasingly reliant on data, your success is dependent on being able to ask the right questions, interpret key metrics, and apply insights that guide strategy.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the unit, students will be empowered to:

  • Critically analyse the role of business analytics in strategic decision-making and organisational success.
  • Evaluate and apply key business metrics (KPIs) and analytics frameworks to measure performance and guide business strategy.
  • Critically assess and synthesise financial, operational, and customer analytics to generate insights that drive competitive advantage.
  • Interpret and communicate data-driven insights effectively using relevant tools.
  • Evaluate ethical and compliance considerations in business analytics, ensuring responsible use of data and related technologies.

Supply Chain Design and Innovation

In an increasingly interconnected global economy, efficient supply chains are more pivotal than ever. This unit will teach you how to design and manage supply chains that are customer-focused, sustainable, and adaptable to sudden shifts. You will gain a foundational and strategic understanding of supply chain design principles, enabling you to manage complex supply networks that contribute to your organisation’s success and resilience.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the unit, students will be empowered to:

  • Critically analyse the role of supply chain management in driving organisational success, innovation and resilience.
  • Critically evaluate key elements of supply chain operations to optimise performance.
  • Assess financial and operational factors influencing supply chain design and apply strategic models to support decision-making in dynamic environments.
  • Design supply chain strategies to consider efficiency, customer focus, risk management and sustainability, and integrate circular economy principles.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of emerging supply chain technologies and innovations to support transformation initiatives.

Why Study These New Units?

The knowledge of how to effectively review your business through proven analytics methodologies is a highly sought-after skill in today’s economy. Regardless of your function or industry, an understanding of analytics and performance metrics will help you make more effective decisions that are driven by data, rather than gut feeling.

This same broad skill set can be fine-tuned to drive innovation projects as well, helping you to identify where your strengths and weaknesses are, as well as where your greatest opportunities lie.

Or you can learn how to design and manage supply chains that are made for today's interconnected global economy. Whether your work is mostly physical or digital, effective supply chain management will have an impact on your results.

The inclusion of these new units is part of AIM Business School’s ongoing commitment to providing students with the most relevant education to their needs. AIM Business School is dedicated to evolving alongside the business environment, which is why we will continue to develop new and innovative study areas for our community.
